Who We Are

RUF is the campus ministry of the Presbyterian Church in
America. Although Presbyterian in creed, don't think that RUF is only
for Presbyterians. RUF exists for all sorts of VCU students. To put it
another way, our mission as a campus ministry is both for
non-Christians to be presented with the historic person and work of
Christ, as well as for Christians to grow in Christ.
At the
heart of RUF’s ministry to both groups of students is the life-changing
message of the Gospel, as it’s revealed in the pages of the Bible. We
believe that this Gospel makes us new people through Jesus, for through
it God brings new life to those who are dead in sin, and therefore,
separated from God.
When this Gospel takes root in Christians’ hearts through the ministry the Word, prayer, and worship, their personal encounter with the Lord will bear fruit in four areas:
Growth in Grace: Growing in holiness, with dependence on the Holy Spirit to bring change within one’s heart.
Evangelism and Missions: Proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the university community and the world.
Fellowship and Service: Living the reality that when Christians are united to Christ, they are also united to one another.
Biblical World and Lifeview: Subjecting all of life to the authority of God and His Word.
The PCA's magazine ByFaith featured the RUF chapter at Emory in its May/June 2005 issue. If you're interested in seeing what all this talk of the Gospel, the Bible, and ministry looks like in real life, check out the article.
